Technical Information for Receiving Houses
Touring Company
Cast: 3 x Puppeteers (2 x M, 1 x F)
Crew: 1 x SM/Technician
Timings
Get in: 3 hours
Running Time: 45min, +15 minute post-show ‘meet the puppets’ in the foyer (1 hour total)
Get out: 40 minutes
The standard schedule comprises of get in, performance/s and get out in the same day. For very early morning shows we request get in the evening before where possible. Get out begins immediately after the performance, once the house is clear. Old Saw are able to perform up to three shows per day if pre-arranged.
Stage
Minimum stage requirements are 5.5m(w) x 5m(d). We would like a bare stage, as far as is practical, with masking to create US wings/mask the edges of the shadow screen. Audience should be positioned end on or in a very shallow thrust. This show is not suitable for in the round,
traverse, or deep thrust configurations. Entrance access through the audience is ideal, but we are more than happy to discuss your specific requirements on a venue by venue basis. We can be pretty flexible when we need to be.
If your space is a bit smaller than specified, give us a call! Let us know your space limitations and we'll see what we can do.
Set
Our set consists of the following:
5 x 100cm x 80cm raked, wooden ramps (we can remove one or more ramps to accommodate smaller spaces, as arranged with the venue)
2 x 2-D cut out branches, to be hung from the rig, ceiling or wall as appropriate
1 x shadow screen, to be hung USC - the width of the screen is adjustable
1 x small house/portable shadow screen
1 x battery-lit 3-D moon, to be suspended from the rig and manually flown by the actors (very light-weight)
Lighting
We will bring our own lighting/sound engineer. We will bring all colour, but will use yours if available
to speed up get out.
We will bring 2 of our own birdies (which will be used DSC), a hand-lamp, and 1 video projector (which will
be used behind the shadow screen, USC).
As well as general lighting rig we will also need:
• 1 x 13A adapters for a video projector (USC) to be patched into the dimmer board
A full tech spec/lighting plan will be provided at least 2 weeks in advance of get in.
Sound
We bring our audio track/music as a digital file and also a back-up cd. Appropriate sound system/speakers are required. We bring our own laptop, but are happy to use yours if you prefer.
We also require a minimum of one dressing room provided (two preferred), parking for one vehicle, and vehicular access for un/loading.
